Dr. Allison is a proud Vuntut Gwitchin (People of the Lakes) Veterinarian. In 2022 Allison was approached by a production company called Wapanatahk Media. They wanted to create a show that highlighted indigenous women in the field of veterinary medicine. Now… being honest Dr. Allison politely agreed to meet with them, with every intention of turning them down. Being a veterinarian – the veterinarian Dr. Allison would feel comfortable taking her pets to – was her dream. Not to be on TV. However, during that conversation, the true goal of the show was laid out:
- To highlight indigenous women in roles of excellence.
- To help break the stigma by highlighting indigenous people in a positive light – not a sad media headline but people who are strong, and making the world a better place.
- To show the children watching this show – that they too can live their dreams.
- To show the beautiful human – animal bond that is so sacred to many of us.
All of this would be the foundation of the show. When Dr. Allison heard this she agreed to be part of the show. This is a TV series with 2 seasons currently available that highlights 3 indigenous vets across Canada. Watch to see the things that happen behind the scenes, and the team in action!
